Abstract:

Lattakia Plain is a region located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is a great and important area from a geological, geomorphological, bio-geographical, paleontological and biodiversity point of view, in many scientific and practical aspects. Lattakia Region, part of Western Arabian Province, is located in northwest Syria, in the Middle East of Asia. The work is intended as a sum of the original research conducted in this plain during 1997 - 2012. The research focused on eco-chemical studies in order to establish the degree of infiltration of sea water in the phreatic zone, and scientific (ecological) and economic consequences on farmlands in the area.
